The Bowl Method AND Plopping How to Style Curly Hair with defined, hydrated curls!

bowl method for curly hair

What does the bowl method refer to, and how should it achieve the effect of hair care and protection? Today we will explain the bowl method for curls for you in this blog. If you are interested in the bowl method, then keep reading it. Continue to scrunch the excess water out of the hair, allowing the bowl to catch the excess water. Once everything seems evenly coated and is scrunched and clumped to your liking, dip your hair a final time into the water that’s been collected in the bowl.

Use this cream and plop hair in a T-shirt

In addition to boosting volume and shine, keeping the hair wet longer combats the post-shower frizz. The bowl method for curly hair gives your curls more contact time with the product. This allows the hair shaft to seal and lock in those amazing nutrients. If you find yourself using lots of products to maintain your gorgeous curls, the bowl method for curly hair is definitely worth a shot. Besides conditioner, you will also add gel to your soaking wet hair. You will then continue to dip your curls in the bowl mixture of water, conditioner, and gel until they form into big juicy hydrated clumps.

The Fastest Way to Dry, Stretch & Smooth Your Hair!

With the much-talked-about frizz-free results, it's no wonder the viral bowl method is #trending. Though this styling technique has been hugely popular on TikTok since 2021, I've been hesitant to try it. It involves dipping your hair repeatedly in a bowl of water after applying styling products — so I've been worried that the process would dilute my products too much and dry out my hair.

The Bowl Method for Curly Hair is the Viral TikTok Hack That Revives Thin, Limp Coils

Besides there ain’t no one got time for another long and involved process for dealing with curly hair. Plus there’s a drawback to starting with five or six cups of cold water in your bowl. That is you’re further diluting your leave-in conditioner or other styling products. If the prospect of using lots of dripping water to style your hair is just too intimidating, Park suggests opting for a leave-in conditioner instead.

Anyone with curly hair knows—if you see a new trend that promises defined, frizz-free curls, you’re going to try it. This trendy styling hack involves, yep, a bowl as the star of the routine. Those who swear by it are convinced it helps lock in moisture, reduces frizz, and helps evenly distribute product making for more defined curls. But as you’ll learn below, it’s not a quick trick for your arsenal, it can actually be a bit time consuming.

"It takes about five to ten minutes from start to finish, depending on your hair length and thickness as well as your experience using this method." After your curls have clumped to your liking, it’s time to begin the styling process to encourage ultimate definition. Recently a hair care method has become very popular on TikTok, and more and more people are starting to try this method. If you are someone who is constantly concerned about hair care and health, then I think you have seen quite a few people using this method on TikTok. 💝 But it wasn't until I discovered the right curl care for me that I learned to understand my curls. I'm happy to pass all this on to you - so that you too can learn to love your curls. After wet plopping, gently remove your hair and use the microfiber cloth to squeeze the excess water. Set your large bowl on a counter that you can easily lean over.

There are plenty of other tried-and-true techniques for styling your beautiful curls, from plopping to diffusing to air-drying. The key is to find the method that works best for you and your hair, and to have fun experimenting along the way. Also, this approach may not work on certain types of hair, so keep that in mind (plus there are plenty of other techniques to try, which we will look at in future Holy Hype stories). Holy Curls founder Badria Ahmed says that some curl patterns might just need a little more hydration. “For high porosity or with thick, tighter hair textures, the hair will need something that seals the cuticle. So, the hair would need a routine that gives them more hydration than the bowl method,” says Badria.

Maximum Hydration

Scrunch out the last of the curl cream and apply a mousse. Scrunch out the excess water and let this fall back into the bowl. A lightweight styler to help moisturise, smooth frizz and define all little curl types. As I just said anytime you get better hydrated curls you should expect to see less frizz. We both know some of the products suggested by magazines, YouTubers or web sites aren’t exactly cheap. So the cost of those big blobs you’re applying can add up fast.

Experts have found that diluting the bowl is the most effective part of the process when it comes to enhancing volume and curl definition. The dilution step ensures the product is evenly distributed through your hair. This is especially important if your curls are thick and dense. Then, I carefully scrunched my hair with a cotton t-shirt (another trick pros recommend for fighting frizz) and let it air dry.

“The bowl method for curly hair increases conditioner contact time, which is great for mature hair in need of extra moisture,” says Chaz Dean, celebrity hair stylist and founder of Wen hair care. Plus, keeping hair super hydrated can help reduce further breakage. The simplest and equally effective method is simply using a bowl of water to rinse off your conditioner.

Others still say they continue with dunking and scrunching until there is next to no water left in the bowl. It helps to insure your curls or waves are super saturated with water and product. Which as you know is a great way to get big, bodacious curls. Best of all it solves one of the biggest problems plaguing curly hair.

As we mentioned before, it can all come down to the bowl size. It can be tricky to find a bowl that's the right size and shape for your head and hair. If the bowl is too small, it might not provide enough support for your curls, while a bowl that's too large might not provide enough structure to define your curls. For our new Holy Hyped series, we’re testing out some of the most-hyped curly hair techniques to go viral on your feed.

Catching product that would otherwise circle the drain too soon lets you get the most goodie out of every styling product application. This method has the potential be a game changer for your curls. The video clip ends with a before and after shot of the clumping she was able to achieve with this method that’s not be missed. This side to side trick is needed to keep the hair on the back of your head from being stuck back there. You’re also insuring the product is distributed thoroughly throughout your hair.

I Tried e.l.f.’s Halo Glow Liquid Filter, And Now I Know Why It’s Always Sold Out

Although it’s currently trending, it’s not necessarily a new technique and has been circulating amongst the curly community for a few years. I always want to end the challenges off on a good note, and thankfully, this is one. I showered around 4 pm yesterday because it was one of those days. Because my hair was able to air dry completely by the time I went to bed, I was able to see what it would look like if I did the bowl method first thing in the morning. I tried to towel dry my hair as much as possible while still scrunching it up all last night. I did a bit of research and I think the excessive amount of water was hurting my curls and weighing them down more than it was helping them.

The Curly Girl Bowl Method was created to reduce water usage while styling curly hair. However, it gained popularity across social media due to the unexpected and beautiful results it produced! The Curly Girl Bowl Method is completed on soaking wet hair, dipping your hair into a bowl of water, and scrunching several times. The repeated dipping encourages the hair to clump together, reduces frizz, and dilutes and distributes your styling products evenly throughout the hair. The result is hydrated and defined curls that have a ton of volume.

Jennifer Lopez’s Street Style Is Stunning. Here’s How To Steal It!

After you dip your hair into the bowl, you then “scrunch it up” in sections and let the water drip back into the bowl. The “bowl method,” which went viral on social media earlier this year, involves slathering your hair with a leave-in conditioner or curl cream and dipping it section by section into a bowl of water. As you dip, you’re meant to scrunch each individual section and let the water run back into the bowl.

Try this new curly technique to see if adding a "bowl o' moisture" to your parched curls & waves is worth adding to your curl care routine. TikToker Kimberly Díaz (@__kimberlydiaz) agrees, adding that the bowl method is great for providing the added moisture that dry curls so desperately need, especially during the winter months. The best part of the bowl method for curly hair is that it can be completely adapted to your personal haircare needs. In the summer, for example, you might feel you need only 2 dips into the bowl.

There are several different reasons why the bowl method might better help define your curl, the main being the added hydration that comes with it. "We always advise our customers to apply curl products onto soaking wet hair," says Lizzie Carter, founder of Only Curls (via Stylist). The bowl method is a simple way of washing curly hair by reusing the water and conditioner you normally wash out in the shower. By dipping your curls into the mixture several times, your hair becomes more hydrated which results in tighter, more defined curls.

Day 1

We agree, it may be a little time-consuming to do on an every-wash basis. However, when the hair is starting to feel particularly tired and dull, this method combined with a nourishing hair butter could be the exact boost that its craving. Plus, it works well for all curly hair types- even those who are edging towards wavy hair.

Curly Girl Bowl Method: 5 Reasons Why So Many Swear By It

The idea of the bowl method is that when you squeeze your hair over the bowl with water and conditioner, the bowl collects the mixture for reuse. Not only does this save a ton of water, but the reapplying water and conditioner mix help hydrate your curls for maximum moisture. Whether the viral bowl method has graced your FYP or not, you’ve likely found yourself skeptical about at least one out-there curly hair routine that has circulated on the internet in the past couple of years.

The bowl method provides your hair with your very own, DIY deep conditioning treatment. I took a break from the bowl method yesterday because my hair has started to look rough the last two days. But I came back, added more curl cream than usual, and gave myself two hours of drying time before bed. My 3A curls can only thrive when they're deeply hydrated, which means nourishing them with ultra-moisturizing conditioners, leave-in treatments, and styling creams to help maintain my texture. Ultimately, Dr. Gohara believes the best way to take care of curls is by applying a leave-in conditioner or wash-out deep conditioner to wet hair.

The continuous squishing used in the bowl method helps to tighten your curls. In a word, the bowl method has the added benefit of providing more conditioner contact time, which is very easy and useful for your curly hair. If your hair has the same problem of frizz and dryness, this is a method that is worth trying. It’s a technique that you’ll no doubt be wanting to try for that luscious, silky bounce.

The working doors (inside and out) and realistic details, like sweet heart shutters and a sleek wooden staircase, just add to the overall appeal. If you’re purchasing a large dollhouse like many of the selections highlighted on our list, choose one that you like looking at daily. “Since they do take up a bit of space, it’s great when a dollhouse can work as part of the décor of a larger room,” the Coffees advise. With the release of the hit new Barbie movie earlier this year, there’s no hotter toy than this decked-out, three-story Dreamhouse, which has been completely updated for 2023.

This sturdy wooden dollhouse from Kidkraft is open on all four sides, allowing for maximum play space among multiple children. Our top pick, the Hape All Seasons Dollhouse, is effortlessly engaging, highly interactive and features an open layout that’s ideal for dollhouse play. The best dollhouse for your child is also age-appropriate in terms of their maturity and level of development. You want your kid to feel in command of this tiny abode, not frustrated by elements that are too hard for them to manipulate.

Larger dolls and accessories and an open layout are easier to navigate and enjoy for young children still honing their dexterity. They were standouts for their popularity and unique features that promote fun, imaginative play and learning for kids. This stunning and super spacious three-story dollhouse doesn’t come with a white picket fence, but it might as well. An Inspiring Play Set For Kids Who Want To Save The Day

It’s often a toy that’s played with repeatedly by multiple children, so opt for materials that can withstand the wear and tear of many joyful playdates. We selected these dollhouses after speaking with experts in their respective fields and interviewing fellow parents to discover what dollhouses are best. We paired this input with our own expertise as seasoned parenting writers and moms (with dollhouse-aged kids) ourselves. As parents ourselves, we’ve also personally spent hours researching and narrowing down the best dollhouse options for our own children, in addition to trying many out firsthand on playdates at friends’ houses. You need to purchase accessories separately, but the little furniture sets and dolls themselves are just as charming, detailed and meticulously-made as the dollhouse. If you’re selecting a sizable dollhouse for a dedicated area, this might be a good pick.

5 Top We Buy Houses Companies in California

house cash offer

Some buyers enlist a company to pay cash on their behalf, and then pay the company back using a mortgage loan. “The buyer will still put down earnest money once they are under contract as a deposit toward the amount they owe for the home. The rest of the money will typically be wire transferred to a title company just before closing day,” she explains. Traditionally, a buyer gets preapproved for a mortgage and makes an offer on a home.

Depending on where the property is located, your settlement agent will do a couple of things for you. They’ll act as an independent third party to hold, account for, and transfer money, and they’ll also facilitate the title search and title transfer. Due to the current market’s low inventory levels, competition among home buyers is high. Today, every single detail of your offer has to be on point, or you could lose out to the competition.

Top We Buy Houses for Cash Companies in Bowling Green

Buying a house in cash can streamline the process, but it’s not always the most beneficial decision for a buyer. Depending on how much you have saved up and how much the house costs, you might find yourself strapped later on if you need funds for repairs, maintenance, or to help fund a life event. Even though you’re buying your house outright and are not required to insure it, purchasing homeowner’s insurance is still a wise decision.

Overcoming the Impossible: How to Sell a Home in 10 Days

Some sellers may favor cash buyers to avoid these problems and delays. For starters, ask your real estate agent to request the title records to see how many times the house has been sold. If it trades hands every few years, there’s probably a reason for it. Although often used interchangeably, being preapproved is much different from being prequalified. As outlined in the chapter about mortgages, getting prequalified is a painless process that requires you to disclose some basic financial information to the lender, but not to back it up with documents.

Should I take less than market value if it’s an all cash offer?

As a home seller, one of the big things you want to do is eliminate as many question marks as possible and find a solution that fits your needs. If the questions involve a need for speed or simplicity — a cash offer can do both and more. You should also request proof of funds to confirm that the buyer actually has the available cash to complete the purchase. This verification can come in the form of a certified bank letter with the official letterhead and should have the signature of the authorized bank personnel. This means from list to close, you might need to plan for more than three months to complete your home sale transaction. And the 106-day average estimate does not account for your time spent preparing the property to be placed on the market.

In general, an all-cash offer is almost always more competitive than making an offer with financing involved. Attorney Bruce Ailion says “a seller views a cash offer favorably because there is no risk that the buyer will be unable to close the transaction. A cash sale, therefore, is usually worth more to a seller than a higher-finance offer. Selling your house “for cash” doesn’t mean you’re trading it for a briefcase full of hundred-dollar bills, like in the movies. Rather, a buyer who makes an all-cash offer has enough liquid funds to cover the full price upfront.

But experts often recommend paying for an appraisal, which can provide peace of mind that you did not overpay for the property. If you forego an appraisal, “work with an experienced real estate agent and ask the agent for an analysis of recent sales to avoid overpayment,” suggests attorney Michael Romer. “Sellers dislike contingencies because they don’t want buyers to cancel. These offers have become increasingly common in today’s hot housing market.

“These companies are similar to hard money lenders in that they make the money you need available, but at a high cost,” cautions Ailion. Guild Mortgage offers the CashPass program for conventional mortgages. Houzeo is rated 4.9 out of 5 stars by thousands of home sellers on Google & Trustpilot.

“An all-cash transaction can close as soon as the title is confirmed. According to Romer, the fees companies like these charge for backing your cash offer often range from 1 to 3 percent of the cash fronted. If you’re hunting for a house today, chances are you’ll be competing with other buyers for the same property. Homeward Inc., a real estate company affiliated with Homeward Mortgage, has cash-offer and buy-before-you-sell programs. Our partners cannot pay us to guarantee favorable reviews of their products or services.

Now that you’re familiar with the process of selling a house for cash, should you do it? The closing will likely be held at the office of a title company, escrow company, or real estate attorney, depending on customs for your state. You’ll sign the same documents as you would in a traditional sale, such as the deed, settlement statement, and any property disclosures that haven’t already been completed. You can choose to have the title company draft the paperwork or let an attorney handle it. Though you don’t really need an appraisal because you’re paying cash, you may want to confirm that the house you’re purchasing is worth what you are paying for your own peace of mind.

If you want to buy a house with cash to avoid paying mortgage interest, you should consider how much that money could grow if you invested it instead. If your goal is to beat other bidders for a home, buying with cash will attract the seller’s attention. In a standard purchase contract, the typical contingency period is 17 days, but you can shorten that timeframe if you want, which will make your offer more attractive to sellers.

When considering an offer from a We Buy Houses site, remember that these are house-buying companies, which means they’re ultimately trying to make a profit. They plan to fix up your home and either resell it or rent it out. According to data from the California Association of Realtors®, the median time on the market for a California home is 19 days. And when working with a financed buyer (a likely scenario if you list your home), you also have to account for the typical 42 days a buyer needs to close on a purchase loan. Laurel Buys Houses has purchased over 300 homes in the Sacramento area and has been accredited with the Better Business Bureau since 2017.

With some types of mortgages, like FHA or USDA loans, buyers are restricted to certain kinds of houses in certain locations or in a certain condition. House-buying companies can be a good alternative for California sellers in need of a quick exit from homeownership, but they’re not without drawbacks. However you choose to sell your home, it’s important to avoid making a hasty decision. Check reviews, read testimonials, and research its presence and performance in the market. And, of course, read the buying agreement carefully before signing. For many home sellers, We Buy Houses for Cash companies can be a solid solution to get a property sold quickly or to access cash for an expected life challenge.

Each mast is fitted with a fully-battened sail with adjustable flaps (wing devices that increase the max lift coefficient that a wing can generate). The sails are computer-controlled and designed for peak performance even in light winds. The next video shows various passenger and research ship designs developed by Knud E Hansen (Danish marine engineering company established in 1937). The next design (by Aker Arctic) is of an expedition ship ordered by the UK-based company Polar Cruise Enterprises Ltd. The vessel has LOA length of 135.5 m, Beam 17.8 m, Draught 5.5 m, Propulsion 2x 3.5 MW azimuth thrusters, Engines 4x MAK 6M32C (2,88 MW each) allowing max cruising speed 13 knots (15 mph / 24 kph).

The arrival of AIDA Cruises’ AIDAprima in Hamburg in February is the start of a new dynasty. The 3,268-guest ship and a coming sister AIDAperla sport an almost vertical bow design and a covered front deck. The cheeky way AIDA chose to introduce the new look was to paint big puckered red lips around the bow.

Norway-based YSA Design has left its mark on several existing cruise ships since it was involved in designing some of the spaces onboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Prima and on Holland America Line ships. But now the company has revealed a design for an eco-friendly catamaran that has capacity for 200 guests and 155 crew. Hoppen created cabins that feel like comfortable living spaces, with a sofa bed or chaise in nearly every cabin and clever storage spaces, such as outlets and USB ports hidden in a plastic jewelry box on the desk. Cruise ship cabins reflect the design aesthetic, preferences and travel needs of contemporary travelers. If you're tired of outdated decor, tight spaces you only use to shower and sleep, and a lack of modern amenities, check out the cruise lines and ships embracing these six top design trends. More recently, cruise lines are tapping celebrity designers to reach a more design-savvy market. Just as on-board roller coasters and ziplines once added to a ship’s appeal, now it’s interior designers with broad name recognition and experience in hospitality design. In the early 20th century, shipping companies competed for passengers by increasing ship speed and the onboard amenities, which grew more opulent over time. In 1911, the RMS Olympic, part of a trio of ships from the White Star Line that included the Titanic, boasted a grand staircase, swimming pool, Turkish baths, and private bathrooms for first-class travelers.

Eclectic hotel interiors

"Hotels feel like a part of a place. On a ship, this is your home; after a day of exploring, this is where you are coming back to." Roman and Williams took a dreamy, cinematic approach and used lighting to create a sense of drama in their interior designs for Virgin Voyages. The RMS Britannia, one of the first ocean liners from Cunard, was launched in 1840 and could carry 115 passengers.

Those interested in the massive undertaking of not only building a cruise ship but first designing one will find a new behind-the-scenes infographic from Foreship fascinating. Start exploring far-flung design destinations, the newest boutique hotels, and well-designed bars and restaurants perfect for the modern jetsetter. Patricia Urquiola designed the interior space for "Eden," a greenery-filled common area in Celebrity Cruise’s Edge Class ship. Cunard's Queen Mary launched in 1934 and featured an Art Deco interior that included the application of over 50 different types of wood in intricate marquetry, carvings, and wall panelling.

Deck 3 is the Sun Deck featuring a swim platform with a ladder for easy water access. Deck 6 has an open-air cafe and sun deck (sunbathing area with deckchairs and loungers). This is a movable duck-tail, which position depends on cruising speeds and weather conditions.

On March 16, 2017, SunStone Ships Inc (USA) signed an agreement with the Hong Kong-based "China Merchants Industry Holdings" (CMIH) for the construction of 4 units based on the "ULSTEIN CX103" design. SunStone is currently the world's largest (by GT tonnage) shipowner chartering exclusively expedition vessels to the cruise travel industry. The series has promised to feature footage from behind the scenes of the ship’s design, construction and eventual launch of Icon of the Seas. Engineers and industry experts will be featured to talk about the revolutionary cruise ship, which Royal Caribbean claims will offer the best family vacation in the world. Renowned interior designer Kelly Hoppen was brought on board – pardon the pun – to design the suites and staterooms, as well as The Retreat, a private sanctuary for suite-class guests.

The popular onboard kennels were expanded in order to cater to the high demand this extraordinary facility already attracts. Cabin decks house 48 passenger staterooms (46 cabins plus 2 suites) - all outside and many with balconies. Deck 2 has a large tender boat garage for Zodiacs (rigid inflatable boats), jet skis, scuba diving gear, and other equipment. The ROV (remotely operated underwater vehicle) is fitted with HD camera equipment underwater observations at max depth 3 km ()9840 ft).

This new bow design helps increase overall stability of the vessel by shifting the center of gravity forward. The bow for Icon of the Seas is now confirmed to be Royal Caribbean’s first ship to feature a parabolic bow design. This is a functional design element that creates a curved indentation in the bottom of the vessel’s hull.

We are excited to see what happens when you combine Azamara’s intimate service -- the crew learn the names of every single passenger and you’re greeted by name when you board -- with a fresh spin on its destinations. Carnival Cruise Line turns 50 in 2022, and the line is leaning into the festivities with its next Excel Class ship, Carnival Celebration. Set to debut with a 14-night transatlantic cruise departing Southampton on November 6, 2022, Carnival Celebration will homeport out of Miami when it arrives Stateside.

Architecture Review: Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady

I really wanted to make sure the interior didn't distract too much from the views,” Hoppen says of the space. “I incorporated some of my favorite furniture designs from my own collection with resource decor to add high-end glamour,” she adds. At Gem, creativity thrives through collaboration within our multidisciplinary team. Comprised of architects, interior designers, engineers, lighting designers, our team brings together a diverse range of expertise to craft one-of-a-kind spaces that seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics. When working on Seabourn and Holland America ships, star hospitality designer Adam Tihany (The Beverly Hills Hotel, The Breakers in Palm Beach) went with muted colors and no sharp edges for an elegant, sexy look.

The 131-square-foot spaces are a compact version of their double-occupancy counterparts, with a bed that's a twin as opposed to a queen-sized one. Stairs might not seem like a luxury, but when they lead to the second floor of your cruise cabin, you might have to change the definition. Two-story suites offer unbeatable views through walls of glass sometimes from multiple balconies. Family Harbor cabins and suites on the latest Carnival ships are located in a "family zone" with shared access to a lounge where families can watch movies on big-screen TVs, play games and enjoy breakfast and snacks.

Modern American Symphony and American Serenade Continue American Cruise Lines' Expansion

Unlike those facilities, though, the function of a cruise ship is enjoyment (or rather, the profit that flows from providing enjoyment). The trick is to make passengers feel like they’ve been handed an all-access pass to 110,000 tons’ worth of luxury, freedom, and self-indulgence. And so a cruise ship is a complete habitat, its culture constant, its boundaries clear and absolute, its population flowing in and out in regular tidal patterns. At sea, it provides plenty of food and comfort but no escape, which raises the stakes on each design decision. The consumer demand for single cabins is high, and they continue to be built into select new ships. On Celebrity Edge and sister ship Celerity Apex, there are 16 Infinite Veranda cabins built for single occupancy.

Viking Polaris arrives in summer 2022 and will spend its season in Norway and the Far Arctic before heading south to Antarctica. With only 100 passengers, Emerald Azzurra promises an intimate yacht experience from a line that has already won accolades for its European river cruises. Discovery Princess will also have most of the onboard features that debuted on sister ships Majestic Princess and Enchanted Princess, including the Salty Dog Gastropub and Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria with specialty pastas.

All four ships will be able to carry approximately 3,300 guests and will build on its Breakaway-plus class that includes the cruise line’s latest ship, Norwegian Escape, as well as its next two, Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Bliss. The 200-guest polar expedition ship Crystal Endeavor due in 2018 also sports a vertical bow. Being built by Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, she will be named for Captain Cook’s ship HMS Endeavor and delivery is scheduled for August, 2018. Norwegian exploration travel company Hurtigruten has announced an order of up to four new Arctic-rated ships to meet growing demand. The Ritz-Carlton yacht will spend its first season in the Mediterranean before heading the Caribbean. Carrying 2,770 passengers, the ship will be an adults-only cruise and have a similar design and attitude to Scarlet Lady (which won the Cruise Critic's Editors' Picks award for Best New Cruise Ship of 2021). Valiant Lady will sail in the Mediterranean, and we're excited to see how Virgin's hip and quirky approach to cruising works in Europe (nights in Ibiza, anyone?).

The challenge – as Cunard’s brand director, Lee Powell, admits – “is to design a ship that is distinctly Cunard and that will remain relevant for luxury consumers in 2022”. We are also working with our cruise clients to advise what luxury looks like on board, as we look to create intelligent and authentic interiors that enhance and complement the cruise experience. We are currently working on our second project with P&O Cruises, and these projects have provided insight into how the cruise industry differs to that of hotels. Seabourn Venture debuted in August 2022 with cruises in the British Isles, Norway and the Arctic before transiting to South America and Antarctic for winter 2022. On all itineraries expect adventure along the way, with stops at small ports and remote areas.

A century later, Wood saw cruise ships as deeply democratic places, where people of many races, ages, and economic classes come together, potentially a source of lessons for the contemporary city. The average cost of building a cruise ship is around the US $450 for mid-sized vessels and up to $800 million for bigger cruise ships. These prices, along with the current economy status force many cruise lines to hold off from building new ships - the biggest expense of all.

With a capacity of 2,700 passengers and 1,160 crew, these $700 million babies are not the biggest, fanciest, or costliest of their ilk, but they may be the most fanatically designed. As soon as I stepped onboard (nose swabbed, vaccine cards shown, mask in place), I saw that hardly a square inch had been left to negligence or chance. The elevator waiting areas had no interest, and glimpses into areas where the crew lurks suggested that, as with all theatrical settings, the back-of-house is bare and basic. But the rest of the fit-out manifested the efforts of a dozen architecture and design teams, all managed by Virgin’s chief cat herder, Dee Cooper. Her job was to align all these different creative spirits with the corporate brand — to patrol the border between bold and tacky, obvious and crazy.

Examine the ship’s layout to see where your cabin is in relation to key areas like the lido deck, dining rooms, and entertainment venues. Consider potential noise from above or below your cabin, especially if it’s immediately above or below a dance floor, crew area, or near the pool. Before booking, read reviews of the ship and specific cabins on websites such as Cruise Critic or watching YouTube reviews. Previous travelers can offer invaluable insight into noise levels, views, and overall satisfaction. Inside cabins on the 'P&O Arvia' cruise ship are a good value accommodation option. Here’s how to select the best cruise ship cabin for your needs, whether you're seeking breathtaking views, peace and quiet, convenience, or the best value.

The latest concept from the Papenburg, Germany-based shipbuilders, called ORIGIN, represents a change from conventional cruise ship designs, with a streamlined look and an innovative slide-out lounge. The popular Meyer Werft has unveiled its 2024 vision for the future of cruise ship design. The shipbuilder has released a new concept every year since 2021, which introduces design and construction features that later influence cruise ship production. The newbuilds could carry about 500,000 passengers annually, of which about 100,000 foreign tourists. The number of foreigners declined by nearly a half in 2014 as western tour operators cut Russian programs and westerners stayed away.

According to the Ministry of Industry and trade, buyers of the new ship would be operators like Mosturflot (GK Sea and River shipping company), Vodohod and Orthodox. The main difference of this 4-deck ship is that it will be able to navigate not only rivers but seas as well. The vessels will also be more luxurious than past ships and will include western amenities, such as French balconies and comfortable large suites. In terms of what we can bring to cruising as designers, there is no simple answer.
